US President Barack Obama on Tuesday called for a return to civilian rule in Thailand, where the military seized power in 2014.
The military government has promised to hold new elections after drafting a new constitution, but that process has been delayed repeatedly. Elections are now foreseen in 2017 at the earliest.
"We continue to encourage a return to civilian rule in Thailand,"
Mr Obama told a press conference after meeting with representatives of Southeast Asian nations in California, including Thailand.
