The Bangkok Military Court on Sunday approved a police request to detain lese majeste suspect Patnaree Charnkij, for 12 days for further investigation, then turned around and granted her request for bail.
Ms Patnaree, mother of Resistance Citizen group leader Sirawith "Ja New" Seritiwat, was escorted by police from the Crime Suppression Division to the Bangkok Military Court on Sunday morning.
After the police detention request was approved, Ms Patnaree was taken from the court to the Bangkok Womens Correctional Institution .
Ms Patnaree's lawyer then submitted a bail request with a 500,000-baht surety.
Mr Sirawith was present throughout the court procedure.
On Sunday afternoon, Mr Sirawith was scheduled to take part in an activity organised by the New Democracy Movement at Thammasat University's Tha Phrachan campus scheduled for 2pm-6pm.
