30 drunk drivers nabbed
15 May 2013 : Thirty men and women driving while intoxicated were arrested at police checkpoints throughout the Pattaya area. Most of the arrests occurred at the Dolphin roundabout in North Pattaya where traffic is forced to slow down, thus enabling the police more easily to stop and question drivers.

Computer destroyed in warehouse fire
15 May 2013 : Hi-tech equipment valued at more than 10 million baht was threatened by fire that was quickly extinguished by Banglamung fire fighters. But not before the flames destroyed a substantial—yet undetermined—amount of computer supplies and goods. Investigators interviewed the watchman, 35-year old Punet Chemkaew, who reported the blaze. He said he was taking a nap and was awakened by the smell of smoke. The fire chief said the fire was likely caused by a spark from a faulty electrical wire.
Thief raids Phuket police station
13 May 2013 : PHUKET: A 24-year-old painter embarrassed police in Patong on Friday night (May 11) when he simply walked into the ground-floor police station office of the Deputy Superintendent for Investigations, Pol Lt Col Paisarn Sungthep, and walked off with a pistol and a laptop computer.

13 May 2013 : PHUKET: Immigration police this morning arrested 45-year-old British man, Stephen Peering, on charges of exceeding his permit to stay by two years, and possession of marijuana.

Cheeky robbery at 7-Eleven
15 May 2013 : A foreigner entered the 7-Eleven store on Walking Street and sneaked into the store room while the clerk was busy working behind the counter. Shortly thereafter, the farang reappeared and explained that he had been looking for a rest room when he wandered into the storeroom by mistake. He then made his exit. The clerk, 20-year-old Marut Lapit, did not realize that he personally had been the victim of a non-violent robbery. But when his shift ended, he went to the storeroom to retrieve his belongings and discovered that 6,000 baht had been taken from his wallet. The CCTV camera captured a clear image of the thief, but police have no idea of his identity.
Girl’s bizarre death begs explanation
15 May 2013 : Police are investigating the perplexing death of a five-year old girl who reportedly convulsed and died after a dog walked around her, or so the story goes. The girl came to Pattaya from Chonburi with her parents Adisak Srisombat and his wife Kamfang. The couple rented a room, they say, and left their daughter alone for a short time. On their return, they found the 5-year-old dead. Doctors determined that the youngster had had a seizure following a shock. There was no evidence the dog had attacked the girl. The inquiry continues.

Elderly honored in Banglamung

The Banglamung Home for the Aged celebrated its annual seniors’ day by handing out certificates of merit to the area’s men and women over 60 who have contributed to charitable and other worthy causes. There were also donations from private individuals to buy wheelchairs and other needed equipment at the centre. Also on hand were free haircuts, acupuncture and foot massage as well as traditional pouring of water over the hands of the seniors.
New learning centre for the deaf
10 May 2013 :
Some 300 hearing impaired children and their parents were at the opening of an extension at the Boonchu Muangmaitong Foundation near Sattahip. Pornjit Hoonruengroom, president of the Navy Wives’ Association, hosted the event and explained that education for deaf children would be free at the centre to help youngsters take their proper place in society.
