NARATHIWAT - Two men were shot dead in separate attacks in Waeng and Rueso districts on Friday, police said.
Huhammad Sorbee Mano, 35, was slain about 8am in front of his house in Waeng district.
A man emerged from trees near his house, acting if he intended to talk to him but instead pulled out a gun and shot him dead, said Pol Lt Burin Ananthasena, a duty officer at Waeng police station.
Police suspected the murder stemmed from a personal conflict, but had not ruled it being linked to the insurgency.
Another man was killed at a makeshift shelter on a rubber plantation in Rueso district.
The body of Abdulsoma Samae, 43 was found around 1pm. He had been shot twice in the head, said Pol Capt Wanchai Rakbunmuang, deputy chief investigator at Rueso police station.
Investigators reported the victim had gone to the plantation to meet local residents who wanted to sell crumb rubber. While waiting for them, he was shot by unknown gunmen. The rubber sellers found his body when they arrived later, and reported it to police.
An investigation was underway.
