Seven wounded in Pattani gun attack

PATTANI - Seven people -- three men, three women and a four-year-old boy -- were wounded in a gun attack in Nong Chik district on Saturday night, police said.

Pol Capt Ekarat Jiancharoen, a Nong Chik police investigator, said the incident occurred at about 7.30pm at village group 8 in tambon Bo Thong when a group of men opened fire randomly at several houses on Don Yang-Hat Yai Road.

Wounded in the attack were: Nirat Boonlong, 49, Phaew Boonlong, 69, Bovornrath Wongsamran, 50, Nitiporn Praneet, 20, Thirawat Saro, 28, Sophit Praneet, 53, and Thanapat Saro, 4. All of them are Buddhists.

Police were investigating the motive of the attack.
