A formal request for the extradition of Masoud Sedaghtzadeh, one of the five Iranian suspects in the Feb 14 bomb blasts in central Bangkok, has been sent to the Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
The embassy will to forward the request to Malaysian prosecutors, Foreign Ministry spokesman Thani Thongpakdi said on Tuesday.
He said the Foreign Ministry received the extradition request, signed by Attorney General Chulasingh Wasantasingh, at noon.
It was not known how long Malaysian authorities would take to consider the request, Mr Thani said.
Mr Sedaghtzadeh was arrested by Malaysian authorities in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 15 after three bomb explosions in the area of Sukhumvit soi 71 in the afternoon of Feb 14.
