Two soldiers allegedly involved in a recorded sex act with a 16-year-old girl in Pattani province have been detained by the army pending legal prosecution.
Lt Gen Udomchai Thammasarorat, commander of the 4th Army, said yesterday army investigators had seen the video clip of the sex act.
One private named Winai was allegedly filmed having sex with a girl at a hospital in Yarang district of Pattani on Jan 22.
Another private called Yot allegedly filmed the act and then distributed the video clip.
The commander said the private who was involved in the sex act is to be charged with having sex with a minor.
It is unclear what charge may be laid against the other private.
Both privates were disciplined and are being detained at the Bo Thong army camp.
Yarang district police received a complaint from the girl's parents.
A local source said the girl had become withdrawn since the encounter and often cried.
Her parents have asked the authorities to send psychologists to help the girl.
Lt Gen Udomchai said the outpost where the two privates were stationed in tambon Rawang had been moved about 3km to Wat Sukhawadee in Yarang district.
The girl's house is about 1km from the original location of the outpost.
Many villagers from tambon Rawang had demanded the outpost be disbanded since hearing about the encounter.
The source said Yarang police would later call the girl and both soldiers for questioning.
