NARATHIWAT: A 32-year-old female teacher was shot dead by suspected militants in Cho Airong district on Monday despite a security beef-up for teachers in the deep South.

Chatsuda Nilsuwan, who teaches at Ban Ta-ngo school in tambon Marue-ok, was shot four times by a motorcycle pillion rider while she was on her way from the school to her house at about 6pm.

Witnesses told the police that the teacher was travelling on her motorcycle alone without military protection because she had finished work later than normal.

“Female Teacher Gunned Down’, “Teacher Slain in Narathiwat”, “Informant Slain in Pattani”, “Local Leader Gunned Down in post- TAO poll attack”, “Pattani bomb Kills Soldiers” and on and on and on. The accompanying pictures are always “security personnel” surveying the destruction and death. Can’t recall last time a picture showed captured or killed “bad guys” only innocent victims. Seems to be a one-sided fight!

I am very sad about this. Thai military need to do better in protect teachers. If teacher work late, soldier should stay and guard her and not go home!

Poor Khun Chatsuda. To be the second victim today of this sickening conflict.

Where is the famous Sukhumpol, has someone told him todays score. Surely someone realizes the murderers must live close by. Why don't they do something other than "investigate"

Because a dedicated teacher worked late military protection was not provided?
So sad to see this.
I am tired of reading that security has been stepped up.
