Four rebel raid suspects nabbed

Villagers at funeral laud dead raiders as martyrs

Security officials arrested four men believed to be involved in the failed militant attack on a marine base in Narathiwat's Bacho district Thursday.

The arrest came as experts warned the death of 16 insurgents killed in the bungled raid would encourage younger Muslims to join the rebel ranks.

Three of the suspects were apprehended while travelling in a pickup truck in tambon Rueso municipality in Rueso district after police noticed bloodstains on the vehicle's left door.

Don't forget people who told the insurgent attack movement are villegers, right? Therefore, it indicates that many Muslim people stronly disgree what the insurgent did; on the other hand, some praised "martyr" in my opinion these people are apparently not insurgent supporter but they might be aquired the negative info from army Don't forget there were many news that people don't know such as Thai soldier raped Muslim woman, Takbai, and so on. So people might get angry for these cases. I would like to invite you all to go three provinces if you want to find the truth. I can say that the news which is on tv or newspaper is reliable (only 70%).

D# 19, Siamitude, It is funny how you identify jihad, So those terrorists died and called martyr for their "strive or to struggle" (which is the real meaning of jihad BTW)for what exactly? what about the other side who defend themselves against the jihad? are they called dead only? Quranic words manipulation for the simple minds is so normal practice by Muslims fanatics and extremist to suite their agenda.

What those terrorists did was attack or raid the actual Arabic word for this is Eetidaa (إعتداء), not jihad, actually the Thai soldiers did jihad in self defense when they strive and struggle to save their lives and protect the bas

"Villagers chanted prayers in honour of the dead rebels who they praised as "martyrs" throughout the rite, the source said"
These dead "rebels" killed the teachers of the villagers children in front of the kids. What is wrong with these people?
How can killers of monks and teachers possibly be martyrs?

D19 : Didn't UDD describe their casualties in the 2010 insurgency as "martyrs" too?

So what does that say about their "movement"? Is UDD "jihading",waging a holy war,as well?

If so,why these persistent double standards that it's ok that some do it,but others cannot?

discussion 3 "torture just a little might work". All torture is illegal in Thailand. One of the causes of conflict in the South, and the failure of counter measures, has been military use of torture. Nor is the refusal for burial of the bodies of those killed a solution. Such a practice would generate counter desecration of bodies. Nor is demonization of terrorists other than futile anger. Yes, it is correct to use force to counter force, but as a last resort and with all the restraints proper to civilization. The civilian population must not be further brutalised by brutal response

    D@16 mitrapaap

"Well, if that is the case, then PT should hold a referendum in the three southern provinces and ask the people whether they want to stay with Thailand or be part of Malaysia..."

I think that even you know that this will NEVER happen! Countries do not usually volunteer to give up territories, and especially not when threatened by violence to do so. Plus, what makes you think that this will stop the violence? It could increase with these militants wanting more & more ("Greater Calaphate")

The purpose of their struggles are to bring Thailand's Southern states to achieve independent. The task of forming the government( if they succeed) are beyond the local insugents capability. Surely there are somebody or group of persons behind all this choas and tension creating. Please get useful information from the insugents that you have captured on how they get the funding, who are the master minds & who are the bomb makers? Squeeze for the answer especially on how they get the finance & thru which channel? When NO MONEY coming in to finance their evil activities; the war in the south will be over very soon!

Disc 16, mitrapaap: Not a good idea to give away the 3 southern provinces. By doing so, the insurgents would only demand more terrority. The insurgency is all aobut expanding its foothold inside Thailand. This is the reason the insurgency needs to be stopped now. It's human nature,
"give someone an inch and they want a mile."

Deaths must be mourned by their families and close friends and obviously bestowed as heros and martyrs in their eyes. Most of these sympathizers lived in kampongs which are located isolated and far from the main stream. They are quite easily influence by their muftis and madrasah. Winning the trust and mind of these heartlanders and ensuring that development plans to bring them to the mainstream must now be done in earnest after so many of their own have died and the military is closing in with their coordinated dragnet.

I strongly disagree that said " Muslim militant" as i am a person living this area i feel this statement would make people ,more especially Muslim innocent people, upset and feel isolated . As you know well that the insurgent is just very few group although they are apparently Muslim, the media should not make religion get involved with the incident.if the media keep using the word " Muslim" with insurgent group, Non-Muslim people would feel negative with Thai Muslim throughout the nation.i highly recommend that as we are Thai people we should cooperate to make these provinces become PEACE.
