Two bombs exploded in Khok Pho district of Pattani province late Saturday night and early Sunday, killing one and wounded 11 others, Thairath Online reported.
The first bomb occurred at about 10.10pm on Satuday when a pick-up truck with soldiers of the Pattani Task Force 21 on board ran over a land mine on Highway 409 near Ban Chomphu in tambon Paklo of Pattani's Khok Pho district.
Seven soldiers were injured in the explosion. They were Pvt Anake Lamlert, 22, Pvt Pongsit Polman, 21, Pvt Nathapong Pasankham, 23, Cpl Kriengkrai Chaikanya, 24, Pvt Chana Khotphukhiew, 26, Pvt Saksit Yimsanga, 23, and Cpl Phayupol Khamsasom 23.
The other explosion occurred shortly after midnight while an explosive ordnance disposal team went to examine the scene. One EOD member, Pol Sgt Maj Sakrin Saengngern, who was from Thungsong district of Nakhon Si Thammarat province, was killed.
Four other EOD team members were injured: Pol Sr Sgt Maj Apichart Lueluang, Pol Sr Sgt Maj Seksan Suwanyuha, Pol Sr Sgt Maj Thanasak Kidmoh, and Pol Cpl Rapipat Usadee.
