A ranger was shot dead while travelling with his wife in Narathiwat's Sai Buri district on Tuesday morning, police said.
Pol Maj Nukul Kaewplod, an investigator of Sai Buri police station, said Sukiphli Nasae, 21, of Ranger Company 4416, and his wife Suhaila Duramae were travelling on a motorcycle when they were attacked.
The incident occurred at Balo intersection in tambon Pase Yawo, about 1 kilometre from their home.
Sukiphli was shot dead. His wife was injured when the motorcycle fell to the road and was later admitted to Sai Buri Hospital.
Police were investigating.
