Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek, 34, was officially defeated by Shaolin Kung Fu fighter Yi Long, 29, in China Saturday night but the real fight proved the might of Muay Thai, Buakaw's manager said on Sunday.

Speaking on the bout which was the main event of Wu Lin Feng, the most influential martial art programme in China, Teerawat Yioyim said in his Facebook page that although referees made the unanimous decision for Buakaw's defeat, Muay Thai through Buakaw even gained more reputation because the recordings of the fight clearly showed that the Chinese competitor was heavily attacked in all three rounds.

The event and the Chinese boxer were under heavy criticisms and many Chinese viewers walked out of the venue, Mr Teerawat said, referring to the fight in Nanjing which was a rematch of the two fighters after Yi's loss to Buakaw last year.

Buakaw fought a perfect fight, reflecting his good practices and preparations, Mr Teerawat said.
