WBA super flyweight champion Tepparith Singwangcha is going to fight Tomonobu Shimizu in his second defence in Japan on April 4.
Tepparith.
Maha Sarakham-born Tepparith is expected to face an uphill task against the Japanese star who held the 115-pound belt before a head injury caused him to be demoted to a Champion in Recess.
That decision saw interim champion Tepparith promoted to official current champion status and the Thai (19-2-0,12 KOs) beat Daiki Kameda in his first defence in Japan in December.
However, now that Shimizu is returning to full fitness, Tepparith has an obligation to take him on in a bout where he is expected to receive US$150,000.
The main fight on the same day will see WBA bantamweight champion Koki Kameda (27-1-0, 17KOs) take on Nouldy Manakane of (24-10-4, 15KOs), the No.12 contender from Indonesia.
And two days after the Tepparith-Shimizu fight, Terdsak Kokietgym (46-3-1,31KOs) will challenge champion Takahiro Ao (22-2-1,10KOs) for the WBC super featherweight title in Japan.
The fight will be held at the Tokyo International Forum. It will be the third title attempt for the Thai, who will receive a fight purse of around US$50,000.
