Futsalroos impressed with Thai kids

Australia are ready for the 2012 Futsal World Cup which kicks off tomorrow, according to Lachlan Wright, one of Australia's key players.

Australian players conduct a special futsal clinic at Pathumkongka School.

"We are training as hard as we can to show our best for our country and our people," he said. "We will go into the tournament confident but not over-confident."

At the Nov 1-18 World Cup, to be held in Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima, the Futsalroos are in Group D with Italy, Mexico and Argentina. They will open their campaign against Italy on Friday.

The Futsalroos last week shared their skills with two of Thailand's emerging futsal teams from Pathumkongka School and Surasakmontree School.

At a special clinic at Pathumkongka School, all 14 Australian players participated in the activity together with 45 young Thai players. Wright said the team always wants to pass on their skills to younger players.

"These Thai kids have brilliant futsal skills," he said. "This provides a good basis for them to learn to defend or attack. If you have good individual skills and good touch of the ball then you can do anything," he said.

The clinic finished with a match between the Futsalroos and students.
