Pinit Ngarmpring, one of the country's most devout football fans, yesterday announced he will stand in next year's election for president of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT).

The chairman of the Cheerthai Power, a Thai football fan group, said he wanted to see Thai football make progress at home and abroad.
Apart from announcing his candidacy, he also unveiled his 10-year football development plan, which focuses on management transparency, improving the quality of Thai fooball and introducing a strong marketing strategy.
''The FAT president should serve the public and not try to seek personal gain,'' Pinit added. ''With determination and dedication, I believe I can do the job well.''
Pinit, a vocal critic of current FAT president Worawi Makudi, formed the Cheerthai Power in 2000 with the slogan: ''Foreign football is just for fun but Thai football is in the blood.''
The 61-year-old Worawi, who is also a Fifa executive member, is expected to seek re-election next year.
