The Bangkok-based German All Stars football club is welcoming hundreds of football enthusiasts from around the world to join the annual International Far East Football Tournament next weekend.
The event has been held on the Easter holidays, on March 30-31 this year, so it is also referred to as the Easter Tournament.
This year's event, to be held at Bangkok Patana School on Sukhumvit Soi 105, is the 31st edition of the International Far East Football Tournament, which was launched in 1981. Matches are scheduled from 9am-5.30pm on both days.
The two-day event has become a tradition on the international football calendar in Thailand. A record 35 teams and their supporters are expected to travel from around the world to participate in the event, making it the largest international amateur football tournament in Southeast Asia.
The tournament includes 11-a-side and seven-a-side competitions as well as different age categories with a separate competition for players above 35.
Apart from teams from Thailand, there will be participants from Singapore, China, the Netherlands, Malaysia, France, England, Switzerland and Vietnam.
The tournament has also become a platform for cultural exchange. See www.gasbkk.com.
