Thanapol Wattanapisit and Chirapat Jaojavanil will lead the Thai squad at this year's SEA Games in Myanmar.
With four men and three women, the team will vie for four gold medals at the biennial event to be held from Dec 11-22.
The other players will be named after two remaining qualifying tournaments, Thailand Golf Association president Rungsrid Luxitanond said yesterday.
He said Thanapol and Chirapat were picked because of their experience.
''We need their experience to help the team,'' he said.
''They both are studying and playing golf in the US. We have also appointed them captain of our men's and women's teams.''
The move came after Thailand had poor results at this month's Putra Cup _ the Southeast Asian men's amateur championship _ where they finished third, well behind hosts and champions the Philippines and runners-up Singapore.
The team also failed to get a top-three finish in the individual event.
''It will be a tough task for our players because many countries send their players to train overseas,'' Rungsrid said.
''Also, many Philippine players study and play in the US.''
Boonyarit Auasilpasart is coach of both men's and women's teams after Virada Nirapathpongporn did not get a contract extension from the TGA.
