Thai Premier League club Buriram United yesterday filed a lawsuit against acting Football Association of Thailand (FAT) president Worawi Makudi and his acting secretary-general Ong-arj Kosinkha for allegedly using forged documents and providing false information to a government official in the run-up to last month's election for FAT chief.
In a suit file with Bangkok's Criminal Court, Buriram United manager Tadthep Pitakpulsin claimed the two made changes to the FAT regulations which were approved by the organisation's members before submitting it to a registrar at the Local Administration Department (LAD), which oversees all associations in Thailand, between Aug 23 and Oct 14.
He said Worawi's and Ong-arj's terms expired on June 16 and they were supposed to hold a conference to elect the organisation's new president and executive members but they refused to hold such a meeting.
Instead, they called a meeting of FAT members on Aug 9 to vote on the association's revised regulations in accordance with Fifa statutes which were approved by the participants, according to the lawsuit.
However, Tadthep claimed the duo then made changes to the approved regulations and presented the modified version to a registrar at the LAD.
The new regulations were used at the Oct 17 FAT presidential election won by Worawi who defeated former national team manager Virach Charnpanich.
The following day, an ad hoc election committee refused to approve the result claiming that there were irregularities. However, Worawi claimed the panel was only authorised to oversee the election and not to approve the result.
Virach and his supporters have complained of foul play. Virach was backed by several TPL clubs including Buriram and Chonburi FC.
The LAD has not yet approved Worawi's victory.
Pattaya FC, which support Virach, have filed a lawsuit with Bangkok's Civil Court asking it to nullify the election outcome.
