The Masters: Live Report

The Masters: Live Report

So, the Masters is over for another year and Australia's Adam Scott is the winner. AFP is now closing this Live Report but our regular coverage will continue.

Adam Scott of Australia celebrates on the 10th hole playoff to win, during the fourth round of the 77th Masters golf tournament at Augusta National Golf Club on April 14, 2013 in Augusta, Georgia.

2355 GMT: It's been another amazing closing day at the Masters. Australia's Jason Day grabbed the championship by the neck with a birdie-eagle start, before Argentina's Angel Cabrera took the lead. But all the while Adam Scott, despite a cold putter, lurked. The 32-year old Queenslander held firm to climb into the lead on the back nine -- including holing a 30 foot putt at the 18th en route to a play-off against Cabrera. The putter had suddenly warmed up, and Scott drained another lengthy effort to win at the play-off's 2nd hole. Australia had its first Masters champion. And Scott had his first major.

2353 GMT: BUBBA WATSON PLACES GREEN JACKET ON 2013 WINNER ADAM SCOTT

2352 GMT: "It's incredible to be in this position. I'm honored," says Scott. Pays tribute to Greg Norman, three times a runner-up at Augusta. "Part of this definitely belongs to him."

2350 GMT: Ceremony begins with Chinese teen star Guan Tianlang, joined by winner Adam Scott and last year's champion Bubba Watson.

2345 GMT: Adam Scott is getting ready for the Green Jacket presentation in the Butler Cabin. After last year's disappointment at the British Open, the popular Australian finally cements his status as a great player.

2341 GMT: "Adam is a truthful, good winner. A great player and I'm happy for him," says Cabrera.

2339 GMT: Scott becomes the first Australian to win golf's first major, beating Argentina's Angel Cabrera at the 2nd hole of a sudden death playoff.

2338 GMT: ADAM SCOTT WINS THE MASTERS

2335 GMT: Cabrera's putt sits on the lip. Par. Scott has a putt to win.

2332 GMT: Both players hit great approach shots to the green, with Scott standing up to the pressure to edge inside Cabrera's ball.

2329 GMT: "Camelia," Augusta's 10th hole is where dreams are made -- and ended. Scott Hoch missed a tiddler here and lost a playoff to Nick Faldo. And Bubba Watson closed out his win here last year.

2328 GMT: Neither player wasting any time in play off. Scott tees up quickly on 10, hits Driver and gets a good bounce off the right mound to finish middle of the fairway. Cabrera hits a long iron and is safely on the left side.

2326 GMT: Cabrera holes out. Play off goes to 2nd hole.

2325 GMT: Scott hits a solid chip beneath the hole. Putts out for par.

2324 GMT: Cabrera hits a gorgeous chip and almost holes it. Looks a certain par. Pressure on Scott.

2320 GMT: Both players make a hash of it, come up short and now face tricky pitches from below the hole. Looks like Cabrera will have the advantage of playing first this time around.

2317 GMT: Still bucketing down at Augusta. Scott will be playing his approach before Cabrera.

2314 GMT: MASTERS SUDDEN DEATH PLAY-OFF BEGINS. Scott plays first and fires a bullet down the fairway. Cabrera follows his opponent straight up the middle.

2311 GMT: The players are heading to the first play-off hole. Let battle commence.

2309 GMT: Argentina's Angel Cabrera is aiming for his second Green Jacket and third major. Adam Scott is looking for his first, a feat that would also make him the first Aussie winner at the Masters.

2305 GMT: Cabrera's 3 on 18 was his first ever birdie on the closing hole in a Masters closing round. Quite a time to break his duck.

2302 GMT: FINAL LEADERBOARD -9 SCOTT, CABRERA, -7 DAY, -5 SNEDEKER, LEISHMAN, WOODS.

2300 GMT: CABRERA HOLES OUT. MASTERS WILL GO TO A PLAY-OFF.

2245 GMT: DAY'S PUTT STAYS OUT ON 18. HE FINISHES ON -7.

2242 GMT: Cabrera hits a beautiful putt on 17 but it doesn't take the break. A wet green probably kept the ball out on the high side.

2239 GMT: Day sets up a birdie chance on 18. Adam Scott is waiting back on the tee.

2237 GMT: Cabrera knocks it to 20 feet on 17. For a man who looked sleepy an hour ago, suddenly he seems hungry.

2233 GMT: Scott pars the 17th, as Cabrera looks on from back down the fairway.

2231 GMT: Jason Day smacks it straight down the middle on 18. Probably needs a birdie to force a playoff.

2230 GMT: Tiger ends a Masters of fluctuating fortunes on -5.

2228 GMT: LEADERBOARD -8 SCOTT, CABRERA, -7 DAY, -5 SNEDEKER, LEISHMAN, WOODS

2226 GMT: And it's all change again. Day fails to make par on 17. Looks disgusted with himself.

2225 GMT: CABRERA IS BACK! BIRDIES 16 AND IT'S A THREE-WAY TIE AT THE TOP

2223 GMT: Cabrera reminds us that he's still in this, knocking it to 20 feet on 16. If he holes putt he'll tie the lead.

2221 GMT: Day, from middle of the fairway, knocks his 2nd shot into the bunker on 17. He bogeyed the hole yesterday.

2220 GMT: Scott misses a birdie putt on 16, but it was a confident roll. Nothing tentative about it.

2202 GMT: LEADERBOARD -9 DAY, -7 CABRERA, SCOTT, -6 LEISHMAN, -5 WOODS, -4 SNEDEKER

2159 GMT: Having watched from down the fairway as Day made birdie, Adam Scott hits a 4-iron pin high at 14 and will be putting for eagle and a share of the lead. This tournament is all Australian right now.

2158 GMT: JASON DAY BIRDIES 15 TO TAKE A TWO-SHOT LEAD OVER ANGEL CABRERA AND ADAM SCOTT.

2157 GMT: Cabrera leaves it short and 14 and he's still one behind Day, who is about to putt on 15.

2155 GMT: Woods misses that putt on 16.

2152 GMT: In a downpour, Jason Day is all of a sudden taking this championship by the scruff of the neck. He knocks it to 20 feet on 15 and will be putting for eagle.

2150 GMT: After quick birdies at 13 and 15, Tiger muscles into the battle and knocks it to eight feet at 16. If he holes that putt he'll be only two shots off the lead.

2147 GMT: Scott cringes as he misses that birdie putt on 14. He's playing beautifully but his putter is stone cold.

2145 GMT: -8 DAY, -7 CABRERA, SCOTT, -6 LEISHMAN, -5 SNEDEKER, WOODS

2145 GMT: Cabrera bogeys 13 to lose lead for first time on Sunday. Jason Day now leads by one.

2142 GMT: DAY BIRDIES 14 TO TIE THE LEAD WITH CABRERA.

2136 GMT: ADAM SCOTT BIRDIES 13. Now one behind Cabrera.

2133 GMT: Adam Scott flirts with danger but somehow stays out of the water on 13. Shades of Freddie Couples in 1992, though that was on 12.

2128 GMT: "Today was just my day to have a bad score. I couldn't get the club to do what I wanted it to, so I made a quick 10." Bubba Watson explains how he racked up a 10 on the par-3 12th at Augusta.

2126 GMT: Pars for Cabrera and Snedeker on 12.

2125 GMT: It's now or never for Adam Scott and Marc Leishman. Both in good shape on 13. Fellow Aussie Jason Day looking at a birdie putt up on the green.

2120 GMT: Snedeker makes a horlicks of 11. Another bogey. Cabrera grinds out another par.

2030 GMT: LEADERBOARD -9 CABRERA, -7 DAY, -6 SNEDEKER, SCOTT, -4 LEISHMAN

2025 GMT: And sure enough, Day fluffs the pitch and the ball rolls back to his feet. He's looking at a bogey at best on the 9th. The pack are making it easy for Cabrera at this point. No-one but the Argentine is moving forward.
