Reverse this brain drain

More than eight years have passed since Her Majesty the Queen lamented the effects of the brain drain caused by the mandatory retirement of civil servants at the age of 60. The Civil Service Commission agreed with her suggestions and in 2008 a legal amendment to the Civil Service Act was approved to allow a select number of senior civil servants in the legal and medical fields to continue working until they reached 70.

Those qualifying were mostly judges, and the regular exodus from the civil service continued each September as 60-year-old retirees filed out the door.

It is now clear that this change in the law did not go far enough and that the country is wasting productive human resources.

Corrupted civil servants should be retired much sooner providing that they can't be laidoff.Let them stay for 10 more year in inactive post could deplete the wealth or poor of the nation. Good ridden at 60 might not be good enough.

Most people tend to fear the old, and they call it respect, in fact very few worth respecting, because this is the kind of world they left behind for the new comers to suffer, so how could you respect those who were ignorant in the past and creating their self interest for their present while they have no more future?

PS. It’s only different for you if your family allows you to be blissfully ignorant, you'll end up the same like the old today

"The reason birth rates are declining is because as populations prosper ... people no longer see the need to breed excessively to secure a relatively old age."

    Oh please.

The social democratic experiment is failing all over the world. Governments can absolutely not be trusted to provide for retirement. That myth is long dead and buried. The illusion of wealth and security can vanish as quickly as a ponzi scheme can collapse and asset values implode. If you think the old system of relying on family is now "passe", I'll take the under on that.

Preparation of a new workforce is gradual and needs planning. There may be those who think they benefit from a hollowing out of the legal system.

Thailand has several very major problems right now and most were self generated by the so called "brains" in authority. A new broom sweeps cleaner so I say "out with the old, in with the new ! ),and LOWER the retirement age to 55 which should rid the country of most of the "dead wood " !

People who were at their job for many years, doing the same thing every day, ought to be better than any new comers. Retirement is just another phase of our life where we get to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Let the next generation handle the issues of the day the way they see fit to do so and with our accumulated experiences to tap on, they should be better at their tasks as time passes. Filling qualify people to the various key posts require advance planning in anticipation of staff attrition. There are many smart and talented people in our midst but we kept hand-picking people based on connections instead of abilities.

'The reason birth rates are declining is inflation caused by excessive credit creation.'

Rubbish. The reason birth rates are declining is because as populations prosper , added to easy access to birth control, the people no longer see the need to breed excessively to secure a relatively old age. Good.
