Obstacles to coming clean

I want to raise what I think is an important question: If Abhisit Vejjajiva, whom we all have considered squeaky clean in the past, now has so many charges laid against him, how then can we be expected to trust other politicians that we already believe to be tainted?

It just seems to me we are trying to wash our face with a dirty washcloth.

#4 Read a little history. Going back almost 1000 years, wealthy Thai merchants and princes were offering Thai ladies to foreign merchants who traveled the Silk Road. Greasing the wheels of commerce, so to speak.
Everything changes, everything stays the same.

I think that the time will come soon at a global level, not just in Thailand, when mankind realizes that politics is a broken system and an obsolete and useless way to administer the country. Thankfully, divisive, corrupt, self-serving politicians with low integrity are a dieing generation as people everywhere want peace and harmony, and countries are realizing that their future lies in unity and collective security. Thailand cannot take another 5 years of what we see happening without awful consequences. I am confident that a rainbow will appear after this storm. But first Thais have to learn what characteristics their leaders should have.

I am most surprised that, of late, politicians and media are questioning the world's view of Thailand and how to "clean up " the "sin capital " image. The image has been accurate re politicians and sex for at least 40 years and, actually, the latter has served Thailand well - surely better than that of my home town, Chicago, now murder capital of the entire U.S. God knows why but violence seems more acceptable than sex everywhere from TV/movies to real life. Select cities around the world enjoy improved economies by openly accepting their " "Red Light"districts while others are seriously considering joining up. Bad politicians are global !

"I washed my hands, in dirty water. I washed my hands, but they didn't come clean. I must have washed my hands in a muddy stream." Old Blues song from Africa. Good analogy, Charlie Brown. I'd guess each Thai politician would show an oil slick a mile long if their past was investigated.

"If Abhisit Vejjajiva, whom we all have considered squeaky clean in the past, ...." Squeaky clean? C'mon, there is no Mr. Clean in Thai politic. The clean one is one that hasn't been caught.

Charlie Brown: Grow up and understand that there is no squeaky clean, just less dirty.
