An 80-year-old woman cooked a meal for her 60 year-old son without knowing that he was already dead, police say.
Officers made the discovery on Friday after being called to investigate a death in the house in tambon Khlong Krachong in Sawankhalok district of Sukhothai province.
Inside the wooden Thai-style house, officers saw Jamnien Sangkhathong cooking in the kitchen. On the stairway was the body of her son, Winai Sangkhathong covered with a blanket. Apparently, the elderly woman had no idea that Winai was already dead.
When she saw many people trying to enter the house, Jamnien thought that she was in danger and grabbed a knife. It took about an hour for police to calm her down and get to Winai's body, according to a report in Post Today.
The investigators assumed that Winai had been dead for at least 10 hours. There was also some vomit on him.
According to neighbours, Winai was known to be a heavy drinker while the mother was suffering from dementia. She got up in the morning to cook breakfast for her son without realising that he was lying dead in the house before being visited by a friend.
