At 3pm Friday His Majesty the King left the Chalermphrakiat Building of Siriraj Hospital for Wat Anongkharam temple in Klong San district to make merit following his birthday on Dec 5.

Thousands of people, many wearing yellow, lined the route and cheered His Majesty as his motorcade passed by.

At 4pm, His Majesty the King visited the Princess Mother Memorial Park on Somdet Chao Phraya 3 Road next to Wat Anongkharam.

The King initiated the park's development and opened it in 1997.

It is situated in the neighbourhood where the late Princess Mother lived during her childhood.

The buildings have been preserved to look as they did when the Princess Mother lived there.

A museum in honour of the Princess Mother and a large public area also form part of the memorial park which covers four rai.

Its former owners, Daeng and Lek Nana, donated the plot to His Majesty the King who later granted ownership of the land to the Chaipattana Foundation.
