Second Hungarian suspect surrenders

PHUKET: A second suspect wanted over last month’s murder of Hungarian businessman Peter Reisz turned himself in to police late on Saturday night.

Lajos Gyorgy Kvalka, 48, also a Hungariannational, presented himself to tourist police in Koh Samui in Surat Thani province, acknowledging charges againsthim of premeditated murder and concealing a body.

A warrant was issued for his arrest last Wednesday.

The other suspect, 38-year-old MosheDavid, also Hungarian, was arrested at MBK shopping centre in Bangkok on Wednesday and charged with murdering Reisz,whowas his friend and business partner.

Mr David has confessed to killing 47-year-old Reisz in revenge for having been swindled out of about 15 million baht, the Phuket police chief, Pol Maj Gen Chote Chawalwiwat, said last week.

Pol LtGen Yongyuth Charoenwanit, the commissioner of Provincial Police Region 8, said Mr David and Reisz ran an illegal property leasing and land trading company together on Koh Samui.

The firm received a start-up fund from Mr David’s mother, dealt only with foreign clients, and had accumulated assets worth 30 million baht.
