Four passengers, two of them foreigners, were killed and more than 30 others injured, 10 seriously, when a Bangkok-bound tour bus from Tak's Mae Sot district overturned on the Mae Sot-Tak highway on Tuesday morning, police said.
Pol Lt-Col Boonsri Homnan, the duty officer of Phawo police station, said the accident occurred between kilometre markers 28-29 in tambon Phawo of Mae Sot district. The airconditioned bus is operated by the state Transport Company.
Four passengers, two of them foreigners, died on the spot. They were a Norwegian tourist, aged about 40, and a worker holding a Myanmar passport, and a Thai man and a Thai woman. Their names were not reported.
More than 30 passengers were injured, 10 of them seriously, Pol Lt-Col Boonsri said. They were admitted to hospitals.
Roughly half of the passengers were foreign tourists returning to Bangkok from a long weekend tour to Mae Sot.
One passenger said the bus was negotiating a sharp curve at high speed when the accident happened.
Police said accidently occur frequently at the same curve.
The accident caused a traffic jam on the highway.
