BANGKOK - Police on Wednesday arrested a woman who concealed 2,000 methamphetamine pills up her rectum.
Immigration police at Don Mueang airport said they acted on a tip-off that the suspect, Wanrunee Ayee, 20, was smuggling illegal drugs from Chiang Rai province to Bangkok.
After the suspect arrived, she was subjetced to search. Officials later found two packages of drugs wrapped in a condom inside her rectum.
Wanrunee was detained for attempting to smuggle 2,000 yaba pills worth more than 600,000 baht in street value.
The suspect later confessed that she picked up the pills along the Thai-Myanmar border and she was to deliver them to a man in Bon Kai area of Bangkok.
The woman said she was hired for 20,000 to 30,000 baht and claimed that this was her first drug smuggling at attempt.
She is charged with possession of narcotics with intent to distribute. Authorities are looking for additional suspects.
