Pol Lt Gen Kamrongwit announced the arrest of Noppadol "Koh" Krodnuam, aged 21. He was arrested in his room in Bangkok's Prawet district. Police seized a motorcycle and a knife he allegedly used during robberies and an amount of money.

Mr Noppadol confessed that he had stolen cash from convenience stores in four areas since Tuesday because he needed money to pay his rent and instalments on his motorcycle, according to police.

The suspect said he wore a motorcycle helmet to conceal his identity and used a knife to force employees to open the cash registers and give him money.

Police said Mr Noppadol has a prior criminal record. He was arrested for stealing in Pathum Thani province.
