Pattani bomb injures 2 rangers

Two paramilitary rangers providing security for teachers were slightly wounded by a bomb explosion on a road in Pattani’s Khok Pho district on Tuesday morning, police said.

The home-made bomb was buried near the local road in front of Ban Pa Bon school of Khok Pho district and exploded about 9am, slightly injuring two rangers patrolling on the road.

Police blamed separatist militants.

More than 5,000 people have been killed and over 9,000 hurt in more than 11,000 incidents, or about 3.5 a day, in the three southernmost provinces and the four districts of Songkhla since the violence erupted afresh in January 2004, according to Deep South Watch.
