The Chao Phraya Express Boat Co plans to raise fares for all types of boat services by two baht in mid-March this year.
Parinya Ruckwatin, managing director of Chao Phraya Express, said on Monday that express boats with yellow flags, running between Nonthaburi and Wat Ratcha Singkhon, will from mid-March charge from 22 baht to 31 baht per passenger, while express boats with orange flags, connecting Sathon and Rat Burana, will charge a flat rate of 17 baht.
Fares for non-express boats, currently ranging from 10 to 14 baht, will also be increased by two baht, Cmdr Parinya said.
The Marine Department had already approved the increases and the committee overseeing water transport fares would discuss the issue within two weeks, he said.
Without the increase the company would record a loss this year, he added.
