A Russian man was found dead hanging by his bootlaces in a hotel in Pattaya, police said.
Officers from Dong Tan responded to the Dragon Beach Resort when staff reported having found the guest dead in his bathroom.
Alexandre Ivanov, 55, was estimated to have died about three hours earlier after making a loop over the shower railing with a black bootlace.
There were several empty bottles of alcoholic drinks on the room's balcony and no sign of foul play.
The Russian had checked into the hotel with his wife, but there had been constant arguments and violence, leading the wife to check out, according to hotel staff.
A cleaning lady, Urai Phaokang, said she had tried to gain entry to the room several times before realising that something was wrong. Security staff gained admittance and found the deceased.
