CTP picks Chumpol cabinet successor

The Chartthaipattana Party (CTP) has put forward a person to replace late party leader Chumpol Silpa-archa, who died on Jan 21, on the cabinet, but there will be no cabinet reshuffle at this time, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said on Tuesday.

The prime minister said she was advised of the party's choice by CTP chief adviser Banharn Silpa-archa. The party proposed the person take over Chumpol's seat in the cabinet.

She did not disclose the name.

There would not be a cabinet reshuffle at this time by the Pheu Thai Party, she said.

Ms Yingluck said Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong in particular would not be dumped, as had been speculated. He had played an important role in solving economic problems for the past year.
