BANGKOK – An 18-wheel cement truck accidentally ran over a woman and her one-year-old daughter at the entrance of a shopping mall in Thon Buri district on Saturday.

A five-year-old girl, also the woman's daughter, was found 50 metres away with scratches on her body and was rushed to a nearby hospital, according to a report in Daily News.

A witness said that Chutikarn Deeorn, 36, was driving a motorbike with her two children on it. She lost control of the bike as she was dodging traffic cones, fell underneath the truck with her baby and they were killed.

Duangkaew Lumsuay, the truck driver, said he was on his way to deliver cement from Saraburi and was stuck in traffic. He said he accelerated when the cars began moving then someone shouted that he had run over someone.

He added that he immediately stopped and waited for the police to arrive.

Noi Kulsawan, Chutikarn’s mther, told the police her daughter was on her way back from picking up her five-year-old from tutoring school.

Police have yet file any charge against Mr Duangkaew, saying that they still need to interrogate more witnesses and also evaluate all the evidence thoroughly.
