A popular Thai comedian and actor was arrested on Friday and charged with possession and distribution of crystal methamphetamine, or ya ice, police said.

Kanokpong Anurakjanyong, widely known as Mcca Chuanchuen, 31, was arrested at his condominium unit in Bangkok's Ratchadaphisek district by an undercover officer posing as a client.
Police said the undercover officer contacted Kanokpong by phone asking to buy two grammes of crystal meth. Kanokpong agreed and told him to transfer 5,700 baht into his bank account.
Kanokpong, who is known for his comedic roles in many Thai soaps and films, told his client to collect the drug from his room after he returned from work at midnight.
He was arrested when the undercover officer found a package containing the drug on a table in his room.
According to police, the comedian admitted he bought the drug from a friend on Ramkhamhaeng road and that he had used crystal meth several times and had sold some of it to his friends.
He was taken to Sutthisan police station for further questioning.
Kanokpong was also the first Thai comedian to release a hip-hop album.
