Cambodian boy, 4, electrocuted

A four-year-old Cambodian boy was fatally electrocuted while playing hide and seek with his friends in Chon Buri province, police said on Thursday.

Police said Bang Lamung hospital reported the death of young Chian Chiew.

His parents, Chian Chuang, 38, and Kem Pieb, 42, told investigators they have been working on construction sites in Pattaya for about four years.

Their fifth and youngest son, Chiew, was playing hide and seek with his friends around the workers' quarters while they were working.

One of Chiew's friends came running up to them to report the accident.

They put the boy on a pickup truck and took him to the hospital, where he died.

Police said the living quarters were built with zinc sheets, which are good conductors of electricity.

Police said they found an electric wire nailed to the zinc wall at the spot where the boy was electrocuted.
