Board okays reshuffle of top officials

The Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) board has approved a reshuffle of senior officials which includes the replacement of the Suvarnabhumi Airport director.

AoT board chairman Sita Divari said the reshuffle aims to boost efficiency and affects levels 9-11 officials.

Core changes include the transfer of Rawewan Netrakavesna, director of Chiang Mai International Airport, who will take the helm at Suvarnabhumi.

Vilaiwan Nadvilai, acting director of Suvarnabhumi, will be appointed senior executive vice-president for planning and finance.

Wing Commander Lukchai Chaleoyprach, executive vice-president for aerodrome standards and occupational health, will replace Ms Rawewan as Chiang Mai International Airport director.

Paranee Vatanotai, director of Don Mueang International Airport, will replace Wg Cdr Lukchai.

Flight Officer Chaturongkapon Sodmanee, a senior specialist, will be promoted to director of Don Mueang International Airport.

Squadron Leader Sita said the changes are being made to accommodate the transfer of Ms Rawewan following her success in running Chiang Mai airport.

The AoT board has also approved in principle the design for the development of Suvarnabhumi's second phase and planned upgrades to Don Mueang, he said. However, the board is still reviewing the proposed budget, estimated at 10.7 billion baht.

The board has ordered Don Mueang International Airport to revise its upgrade plan, especially the expansion of its runway to accommodate Airbus A380s.

It is reported that Oneworld airline alliance is interested in relocating its services to Don Mueang, but wants it to be upgraded to handle its A380s.
