Preah Vihear top news for Thais

More than 80% of people surveyed by Suan Dusit Poll on "political news in Thailand" say the most interesting news for them is the Preah Vihear issue.

The pollster asked 1,523 people nationwide and found Preah Vihear topped the list of the five most-interesting news items as rated by 82.07% of respondents.

The other four stories are the two-trillion-baht loan for the megaproject developments (78.39%), negotiations to solve the southern unrest (74.48%), amendment of the constitution (71.95%) and the amnesty bill (70.57%).

For 61.82% of respondents, the main reason for Preah Vihear being of interest was that they are afraid of Thailand being at a disadvantage and losing the land to Cambodia.

The interest in southern news concerns sympathy for the people and officers in the South, according to 55.10% of respondents.

A total of 56.74% of respondents wanted information about the amnesty because it had been a long-pending issue and the outcome was significant.
