Police have arrested a prison guard who allegedly attempted to smuggle six grammes of crystal methamphetamine, or ya ice, into Satun provincial prison on Friday.
Police said Ron Jaenum, 55, was apprehended as he arrived at the prison in his sport utility vehicle (SUV). Six small bags of crystal meth and two loaded pistols were found inside the SUV.
Prison officials had been monitoring Mr Ron's activities for some time, but had previously not been able to catch him off guard.
The warden of Satun provincial prison, Paradorn Kuntorngchan, said he had asked the Department of Corrections to begin disciplinary action against the man.
