The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department on Tuesday issued a severe weather warning for people in 13 provinces in the North.
Chatchai Promlert, the department’s director general, warned that people living near hillsides and waterways in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Lampang, Lamphun, Tak, Sukhothai, Phrae, Phayao, Nan, Phitsanulok, Uttaradit and Petchabun, should brace for heavy rain, possible flash flooding, forest run-off and mudslides from Tuesday to Thursday, Aug 20-22.
People in risk areas should closely follow the weather forecast and disaster warnings, and strictly comply with the advice given by the department, he said.
