The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department on Friday issued a severe weather warning for people in 12 provinces in the North from Saturday to Monday, Aug 31 to Sept 2.
Chatchai Promlert, the department’s director general, warned that people living near hillsides and waterways in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phrae, Nan, Lampang, Lamphun, Tak, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Uttaradit and Phetchabun should brace for heavy rain, flash flooding, forest run-off and possible landslides over the next few days.
People in risk areas should closely follow the weather forecast and disaster warnings, and strictly comply with the advice given by the department, he said.
