POMC warns social network users

Martial law authorities warned the online community on Tuesday to be careful about what they post on social networks or risk being shut down.

In its eighth announcement issued at about 7pm on Tuesday, the Peace and Order Maintaining Command (POMC) headed by Army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha "asked" online social network operators and clients to self-censor possibly "distorted information that could cause misunderstanding and compound conflicts"

The POMC announcement said it was concerned about the transmission of messages that instigate, condone violence or discredit. It did not name any services specifically.

The command warned that it would stop services that defy this order and take legal action against violators.
