A Thai woman has been crowned Miss Intercontinental 2014 for the first time in Madgeburg, Germany on Thursday while another won the first runner-up title in another international pageant in Warsaw, Poland, the following day.

Phataraporn 'First' Wang, a 20-year-old Thai-Taiwanese, studies at Rangsit University's Tourism and Services College. Standing 179cm tall, she also poses as a model for several magazines.
The first runner-up was Jeslie Mergal from Cuba while the second runner-up was Kris Tiffany Janson from the Philippines. The other finalists were from South Africa, Portugal and Argentina.
Ms Phataraporn said she would do a lot of volunteer work in Nepal and all over the world. She also thinks it could be a good idea to stay in Germany during this year.
The beauty queen received a US$15,000 prize and an $18,000 one-year contract and she can move to Germany if she wishes to do so. She will also be VIP guest at the Top Model of World contest due next January in China.
Seventy-two contestants from around the world competed to win the title of Miss Intercontinental 2014, which was held for the 43rd year.
Miss Intercontinental is a Panama-based international beauty pageant under the World Beauty Organization.
Another Thai woman also won the first runner-up title at the Miss Supranational 2014 contest in Poland on Friday.
Parapadsorn 'Pla' Disdamrong won the title at the pageant, held for its fourth year in 2014. Asha Bhat from India won the crown while the second, third and fourth runners-up were Maggaly Nguema from Gabon, Allyn Rose from the US and Katarzyna Krzeszowska from Poland respectively.
Ms Parapadsorn, a Rangsit University graduate, was crowned Miss Grand Thailand 2014 in June.
