"Euro Truck Simulator 2" takes top spot on Steam in its first week on sale, and while the ambitious, massively multplayer online adventure "Final Fantasy XIV" is to relaunch as "A Realm Reborn" later this year, its 2002 predecessor "Final Fantasy XI" rises in the January 21 GameStop Impulse chart.

"Euro Truck Simulator 2" was voted onto Steam through its Greenlight program and, despite the apparently drab subject matter, is said to be comprehensive and surprisingly engaging, challenging players to carve out a life on the road -- PC Gamer called it satisfying and fresh, and GamingXP hailed it as a "showcase simulation."

Also on Steam, "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" surged ahead of the release of its first batch of downloadable content to the PC masses on January 22, while visitors to GamersGate snap up discounted copies of "Football Manager 2013."
