The event was well-attended by distinguished guests from the film industry and production sector.
The Tourism and Sports Minister, Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, stated that the launch of Figment Studio marks a significant step in elevating Thailand’s film production industry. In particular, the introduction of Virtual Production, the future of the global film industry, equips Thailand to become an international hub for film production. It also positions the country as an attractive destination for international film shoots. The government is delighted to witness this development, as it not only promotes the film industry but also stimulates Thailand’s economy and tourism. This, in turn, will attract more tourists and investors from around the world to Thailand.
Mr. Chayanont Ulit, CEO of Matching Maximize Solution PLC. and Managing Director of The Studio Park (Thailand) Co., Ltd., revealed that Figment Studio was born from the collaboration of business partners, combining each company's strengths. These include The Studio Park, which offers Thailand’s largest sound stage and filming locations across a 216-rai area in Samut Prakan, where numerous Hollywood productions have been filmed. They are joined by StageFor Co., Ltd., an expert in XR and virtual production in Thailand, and Supreme Studio Co., Ltd., the first company to import cutting-edge virtual production technology to Thailand and Southeast Asia. This partnership includes an investment of over 200 million baht in world-class equipment and systems to create Figment Studio, a virtual production facility designed to seamlessly blend virtual and real worlds, elevating Thai production standards to international levels.
“Figment Studio is the only studio in Thailand and Southeast Asia offering both on-site and off-site virtual production/ICVFX services. With comprehensive virtual production infrastructure and cutting-edge technology, along with a team of experts, productions can now be filmed within the studio without the need to travel to real locations. This significantly reduces costs, production time, set construction, and the need to move cast and crew to various locations. It also simplifies the permit process, saving both time and expenses. This system allows directors and crew to instantly change scenes, weather conditions, or lighting as needed. Our advanced technology, including LED walls and Unreal Engine, enables the creation of more realistic scenes with greater ease than traditional CGI. The Studio Park houses five large sound stages with noise control that meet international standards, including one ready-to-use Figment Studio and four other adaptable studios designed to meet diverse production needs,” said Mr. Chayanont.
Mr. Chayanont further expressed confidence that Figment Studio will attract more productions to Thailand, utilising its cutting-edge system for films, commercials, music videos, and digital platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, TikTok, YouTube, Amazon Prime, and VIU, all of which require high-quality content with quick turnaround times. The studio also expects to serve the gaming and animation industries, enabling them to use virtual production for virtual sets or motion capture in various projects. To promote the adoption of virtual production in the country, Figment Studio plans to organise workshops in collaboration with government agencies such as Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional. Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B) and Creative Economy Agency (CEA) aimed at educating and upskilling local professionals to meet industry demands. Additionally, Mr. Chayanont emphasised that if the government were to offer tax incentives to foreign film productions, it would make Thailand an even more attractive destination for international projects, boosting employment and revenue in the entertainment industry. The company also set a goal to position Figment Studio among the top five studios in Asia within five years.
Mr. Khemmanut Sermphongworakul, General Manager of StageFor Co., Ltd. and Manager of Figment Studio, added that StageFor has been a key player in Thailand’s XR (Extended Reality) and virtual production industry since its early days, contributing to several major projects. Over the past year, StageFor was entrusted with the virtual production system for three Netflix projects, including the series Sueb Sundan (Master of the House), as well as collaborating on the Alien Earth series by FX, which was filmed in Thailand. StageFor was the main operator for the virtual production/ICVFX system throughout the shoot.

Moreover, we are committed to helping local production industry access virtual production/ICVFX technology at Figment Studio, transforming it into a hub for learning and experimenting with new creative ideas and imagination under the slogan, ‘Your Imagination is our Stage.’ We believe this will foster sustainable growth for Thailand’s film industry as a whole,” Mr. Khemmanut concluded.
