Flower festival returns to Chiang Mai

The Agricultural Extension Department in Chiang Mai has joined hands with the Mae Rim District Office and Smart Farmer Group to launch "Flower Blooming Festival In Muang Kaeo" in Mae Rim district.

The event is being organised for a second year thanks to the success of the first festival which saw 5,000 tourists visit the district every day and generate up to 100 million baht during the cold season, according to Mae Rim District Office Permanent Secretary Kritipon Rachatamethanond.

In tambon Muang Kaeo, 78 farmers grow cold-climate flowers in a total of 203 rai of land. Some of them have even opened their farms for agricultural tourism. Among them are I Love Flower Farm (bit.ly/2GdnSPY), Suan Pa Nok Iang (bit.ly/34FPtTo), Suan Lung Ron (facebook.com/suanlungron), and Suan Lung Tan (bit.ly/3jFIaiL).

The entrance fees for each farm vary, starting from 50 baht. Some farms also have fashion items and costumes for visitors to rent.

The flower festival will take place until the end of February.


AIRLINES UPDATE

- Bangkok Airways has resumed its Bangkok-Krabi services.

The airline is offering two daily flights operated by an Airbus A319. The flights depart Suvarnabhumi airport at 8.30am and 5.20pm. The return flight to Bangkok departs Krabi airport at 10.45am and 7.40pm. The total flying time is one hour and 30 minutes.

The airline has also resumed flights between Phuket and U-Tapao airport in Rayong.

The service is available on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and operated by an ATR72 aircraft. The flight departs Phuket airport at 12.10pm and the return flight from U-Tapao Rayong-Pattaya airport is 2.20pm. The flight time is one hour and 40 minutes

- Nok Air has expanded its Fly'n'Ride' service to Yala and Pattani provinces.

The services are available on the Bangkok-Hat Yai flight and will connect passengers with shuttle services from Hat Yai airport to the two provinces.

For those heading to Yala, the flights depart Don Mueang airport at 6am and 1.10pm. Passengers will arrive in Yala at 11am and 5.30pm. For the return journey, the van will leave the city at 8am and 1.30pm for the Hat Yai-Bangkok flights at 11.15am and 5.55pm. The travel time for a single journey is 4 hours 40 minutes.

For the Bangkok-Pattani service, flights depart Don Mueang airport at 6am, 1.10pm and 4pm. The shuttle will arrive in the city of Pattani at 9.30am, 4pm and 7pm. For the Pattani-Bangkok service, the shuttle service will leave the city at 8.30am, 12.30pm and 2pm and will arrive at Hat Yai airport for passengers to fly to Bangkok at 11.15am, 3pm and 5.55pm.

The travel time varies from 2 hours 50 minutes to 5 hours 50 minutes depending on waiting time for the shuttle service.
