Medical tourism operators are teaming up with resorts through a joint venture of Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas and Verita Healthcare Group to open a global network of property-based health centres.
Through this investment, Singapore-based Verita and Anantara are signalling growing confidence in medical tourism in Thailand and increasing demand for personalised innovative travel and wellness offerings.
Anantara's first healthcare centre, the Verita Health facility, is in development at Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort and is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2020.
The luxury facility occupies 677 square metres.
"We are excited to welcome Verita Healthcare Group to Bangkok, my home, and also the global capital of medical and wellness tourism," said William Heinecke, chairman and founder of Minor International, the umbrella company of Anantara.
"This partnership represents the coming together of one of the world's largest and fastest growing luxury hotel brands with the world's largest and fastest-growing next-generation healthcare group," he said. "It's a global first and, with the increasing demand for luxury tailored travel and wellness offerings, added to the fact that international wellness tourism on its own is expected to grow to US$1 trillion by 2022, we think the timing is perfect."
An ageing population and increased levels of chronic diseases are causing a rise in demand for more sophisticated therapies and services focused on early prevention and life extension.
The centre utilises cutting-edge innovations such as the recovery XR cryotherapy chamber and vascular pulse therapy, a cardio-synchronised vascular physiotherapy said to help with biological age reduction and performance improvement.
"The Anantara-Verita partnership will allow people to take proactive, personalised steps towards extending their healthy lifespans," said Julian Andriesz, Verita's chief executive.
