FedEx Express, the world's biggest express transport company, has opened a branch in Khon Kaen to serve the Northeast and nearby countries.

The branch is located in the centre of town near the City Pillar Shrine.

"We are delighted to open our newest station in Khon Kaen, a province that is poised to grow and thrive as a business and industrial hub for both the region and neighbouring countries," said David Carden, the managing director for Thailand and Indochina.

Hours are from 9.30am to 6pm Monday-Friday and 10am to 3pm on Saturday.

Packages collected by 1pm will be flown to Bangkok the same day.

To celebrate the opening, FedEx staff in Khon Kaen recently presented new cafeteria furniture to Ban Kamin Non Hua Na Primary School as part of the company's Adopt-a-School Programme.

FedEx, based in Memphis, Tennessee, has more than 300,000 employees worldwide and annual revenue of US$43 billion.
