Chief executive Supote Teerawatanachai said the new branches would be in Bang Khae and Srinakarin areas, with each requiring 200 million baht of investment.

The company has two branches — one each on Rama III and Ram Intra roads— with a third also costing 200 million baht due to open on Aug 7 on Chaeng Watthana Road.

"Our five planned brewery restaurants will help us service all major parts of Bangkok," he said.

In five years time, the company expects sales will reach 1.6 billion baht. This year sales are projected to rise 15% to 690 million baht.

The Chaeng Watthana branch, located near the government complex, aims for the younger generation, civil servants, office employees and local residents. The company expects 100 million baht in sales from this new branch by year-end.

"The brewery business has shown significant growth every year we have operated. Even though spending per head may be down because of the poor economy, we believe our sales this year will grow 15% as expected from more new clients and a bigger customer base," said Mr Supote.

The Chaeng Watthana branch has 5,000 square metres of space and the dining hall can accommodate 1,200 seats. There are VIP rooms for private gatherings from 20 to 200 people, as well as outdoor parking for 250 cars and underground parking for 100 cars.

The company expects to break even within three years for the third branch.

"I want our Chaeng Watthana branch to be a community landmark where customers can welcome their special guests, Thai or foreign," he said.

Mr Supote said the company was considering expanding its brewery business to Myanmar and the UK in the future. Tawandang has breweries in Singapore and Cambodia and a restaurant in Australia.
