Airports of Thailand Plc has advised all domestic passengers using Don Mueang airport to check in for their flights from Thursday at the renovated Terminal 2 building, which is scheduled for a partial opening.
The second terminal of Don Mueang airport is set to open at 4am, with details about check-in counters of all airlines as follows:
- row 9-10 - Thai AirAsia
- row 11 - R Airlines, Orient Thai and Thai Lion Air
- row 12 - Thai Lion Air and THAI Smile
- row 14-15 - Nok Air
AoT board chairman Prasong Poontaneat said the terminal was expected to increase the airport’s passenger-handling capacity from 18.5 million to 30 million a year.
He said some toilets, shops and restaurants were still being renovated and decorated. The facility would be fully opened by February next year. Terminal 1 will serve international flights and certain parts of the facility will be closed for upgrade after the opening of the Terminal 2 building.
Mr Prassong said the third-phase development of the century-old airport included renovations to the old terminal building, construction of a new terminal which will serve as a junction terminal to connect with the Red Line electric railway linking Bang Sue to Rangsit and an Airport Rail Link extension between Phaya Thai and Don Mueang.
The airport would also have a new car park for up to 3,000 vehicles. Once all these are completed, the airport would raise the official passenger-handling capacity to 40 million per year, he added.
