IRPC opens a seminar on "Economic direction with National Economic and Social Development Plan No.11"

IRPC Public Company Limited President Atikom Terbsiri presided over the seminar titled "IRPC business direction with National Economic and Social Development Plan No. 11" at Suan Son Room, Energy Complex, B Building, 6th Floor.

Mr. Atikom said: "IRPC, a private sector company, is one part helping to drive the country’s strategic plans. So there is a need for more of the company’s personnel to  have knowledge, mutual understanding and critical thinking about the directions of economic and social development and opportunities or challenges to IRPC business operations. As the company must adapt and face the challenges of nature changes, economic conditions both domestically and internationally require the vision, knowledge and understanding of the  National Economic and Social Development Plan to link between public and private sectors in order to prepare for uncertainties which can present opportunities or obstacles to IRPC’s future business operations."

IRPC was honoured to have a person recognized nationally for the seminar, Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Secretary General,  Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB), who talked about directions of Thailand and private sector challenges, covering such topics as: Increasing efficiency in using energy and logistic systems; Business planning risk; Manufacturing expansion and investment linked with foreign countries; Professional and International personnel development, and; Research focus  and development on high value business activities. The topics were addressed within the context of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) which will take effect in 2015. The message was that Thailand should show its capabilities to compete in order to create competitive advantage in food, automotive parts, electronics and tourism.

The National Economic and Social Development Plan No. 11 (2012-2016) is an important key to the country’s development. It has four main goals:  A balanced and strong economy; Capability in high competition; Social security coverage, and; a peaceful Thai society with good governance. The goals fall under seven strategies: 1. Building a strong manufacturing base to create balance 2. Creating an environment conducive to production, trade and investment 3. Developing quality people with both knowledge and morality  4. Promoting a just and caring society 5. Focusing on environmentally friendly production and consumption 6. Balancing energy and food security 7. Enhancing national competitiveness.

Thus, the National Economic and Social Development Plan No. 11 is in line with the policy of IRPC business operations stressing business growth along with growth of the community and society and environmental sustainability.
