Today and tomorrow, music lovers should not miss the opportunity to enjoy the "Hua Hin International Jazz Festival 2018: Open To The New Shades" on Hua Hin beach, Prachuap Khiri Khan province, from 5pm-midnight. Entry is free.
This year, the line-up of bands and singers consists of international, local jazz and other genre artists, who will perform on the Beach Stage (main stage) and Open Stage.
Highlights on the Beach Stage are "The Sound Of Siam", led by popular saxophonist Koh Mr. Saxman; UK jazz-funk band Shakatak; Japanese fazz-fusion band Dimension; John di Martino, a classic jazz pianist, arranger and producer from the US; French jazz-blues artist Nina Van Horn; Swedish father-son guitarists Ulf and Eric Wakenius; Brazilian bossa nova band Veronica Nunes and Ricardo Vgt; and Austria's blonde jazz diva Simone Kopmajer. Meanwhile, the Open Stage will feature Thai artists and newcomers from various genres, such as Funktion, SaxPackGirl and The Sincharoen Brothers.
For today's schedule, The Waltz (We All Love Thailand Zapp) will perform from 6-7pm before the start of the opening ceremony at 7pm. From 7.35pm, The Sound of Siam featuring Ulf Wakenius will be on the stage. John Di Martino will bring out his best along with guest artists, Pui, Simone and Thanis Sriklindee, from 8.50-10.15pm. After that, Japanese band Dimension will bring the show to its conclusion.
Tomorrow will see a performance by Veronica Nunes and Ricardo Vogt from 5-6.30pm, Ulf and Eric Wakenius from 6.30-7.45pm, Simone Kopmajer from 7.45-9pm, Shakatak from 9-10.15pm and Nina Van Horn until midnight.
According to Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) deputy governor Tanes Petsuwan, this year's Hua Hin Jazz Festival will reiterate the positioning of Hua Hin as a music city, while this year's theme will highlight various aspects of the TAT's "Open To The New Shades" marketing concept that involves gastronomy tourism, arts and crafts, nature, culture and way of life, all available in the resort town of Hua Hin.
This annual fest has long been on the calendar of music events in Thailand and attracted many tourists and jazz lovers to Hua Hin to enjoy live music, natural beauty and local experiences.
